Cyprus in a Bottle

A Fiery Taste of Tradition

The first mention of Zivania, a very popular local drink of Nicosia, is found in Homer's Odyssey. There, it is referred to as "zivanon," a strong drink consumed by the Cyclopes on the island of the Laestrygonians.

Zivania is a beverage, produced in Cyprus from the distillation of grape pomace. Grape pomace (pulp, peel, stalks and seeds) mixed with high-quality dry wines made from indigenous grapes are then distilled and mellowed for a long period.

This drink belongs to the same category as Greek Tsipouro and Tsikoudia, as well as the Italian Grappa. Tied to the environment, climate, and soil of Cyprus, Zivania is a traditional distillate with its own distinct characteristics and unique taste.
